What's included
Annapurna Base Camp is commonly abbreviated as ABC, which stands for Annapurna Base Camp.
As roads continue to expand each year, we use cars for areas accessible by vehicle. This may result in higher prices compared to other companies, but please consider factors beyond just cost!
Instead of spending time walking through lowlands with limited views, we prefer to maximize your experience by covering more ground on a shorter itinerary. This allows you to enjoy spectacular views of places you might have missed due to time constraints and gives you extra time to explore Pokhara and Kathmandu.
Example Itinerary
Day 1 | Transfer from Pokhara to Siwai (2120m) by chartered jeep (approximately 2 hours)
After getting off at Siwai, trek to Chhomrong (1951m) (approximately 5 hours). (Staying in Chomrong) |
Day 2 | Trek to Himalaya Hotel (2873m) (approximately 6 hours)
(Staying at Himalaya Hotel) |
Day 3 | Trek to Machapuchare Base Camp (3,650m) (approximately 4 hours)
(Stay at Machapuchare BC) |
Day 4 | Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) Trekking (approx. 1.5 hours)
(ABC nights) |
Day 5 | Trek to Bamboo (2490m) (approximately 5 hours)
(Staying in Bamboo) |
Day 6 | Trekking to Shiwai (approximately 5 hours)
Private jeep transfer from Siwai to Pokhara (approximately 2 hours) |
Additional Information about the Itinerary
- Until around 2015, we recommended a 7-night, 8-day course, which was later shortened to 6 nights and 7 days. However, many still found they had extra time and returned early, so we’ve now reduced the itinerary to 5 nights and 6 days. Even with this shorter plan, many people still find they can complete the round trip in just 4 nights and 5 days.
- If you have extra time, you can extend your trip by returning to Dhampus and exploring different routes on the way. For example, you could trek to Annapurna Base Camp on the 3rd day, descend to Chomrong on the 4th day, continue to Tolka on the 5th day, trek to Dhampus on the 6th day, and then drive from Dhampus to Pokhara.
- There’s a hot spring near Jinu on the return trip, which requires a 30-minute walk from the village where the lodge is located. If you have time, you might consider a visit; you can decide on the spot.
- The total number of days you’ll need to stay in Nepal includes the trekking days plus 3 nights and 4 days. Your itinerary might vary based on your international flight schedule, so please contact us for more details.
- From March to April, enjoy the blooming rhododendrons, Nepal’s national flower, across the mountains. From mid- to late November, you can see Himalayan cherry blossoms, believed to be the origin of Japanese cherry blossoms, in full bloom with the Himalayas in the background—a sight particularly appealing to Japanese visitors.
- Between January and February, the area from Bamboo to ABC may be slippery due to snow and ice. Light crampons are recommended for these conditions.

Drinking water in this area
The sale of mineral water is restricted in this area, and it is not sold beyond New Bridge/Tilkedhunga. The only water you can buy is not mineral water, but plain water (spring water or river water that has been boiled and cooled) or water that has been filtered through a special filter. Both are sold in 1 liter plastic bottles, just like mineral water.
They are sold at almost every lodge and rest stop during the trek, but if you are unsure, you can always buy chlorine or bromine tablets.
We recommend that you prepare the tablets beforehand. (We do not provide tablets.)
Expenses other than trekking
The above trekking fees do not include the following:
- Travel between Kathmandu and Pokhara
→ We can arrange tourist buses, chartered cars, or domestic flights. Domestic flight prices are listed on this page. - Hotels in Pokhara, Kathmandu
→The hotels we arrange are of intermediate level or higher. Our opinions on hotels are posted on this page. - Guide accompaniment fee outside the trekking period
→In addition to trekking, a guide can also accompany you on your journey between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
About Porter
For this course, if only one person is participating, it will be treated as a plan without a porter.
As a general rule, guides will not act as porters except in emergencies, so if you do not think you will be able to carry your luggage yourself, please request an additional porter.
In Nepal, every hotel offers a free baggage storage service for luggage that is not needed for trekking. If you leave unnecessary items at the hotel, many people go without a porter for trekking for about two nights. It is a bit tricky for three nights, though.
*If there are two or more people participating, a porter will accompany you, but please let us know if you do not need one.
